📢📢📢 The City of Lubbock will conduct the first full activation test of its Outdoor Warning System at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 8. The test will last approximately three minutes. There are several sirens located in our district, and the sound coverage will include many Lubbock-Cooper campuses, households, and businesses. Congratulations to North Elementary Assistant Principal Justin Guerrant, who has been appointed as the principal of Lubbock-Cooper New Hope Academy effective at the end of the 2021-22 school year! Mr. Guerrant is an Abernathy native and a graduate of Texas Tech University and Lamar University. He began his Lubbock-Cooper career in 2019. He and his wife, Brittany, have three sons, Henson, Parks, and Wilder. "It is a great honor to have the opportunity to serve as principal of New Hope Academy," said Guerrant. "I look forward to building upon the culture and high academic standards for which the campus is known, and maintaining Lubbock-Cooper ISD's reputation for excellence."

One of the many objectives of the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation is to invest in the future of LCISD students - in part through awarding scholarships to deserving seniors seeking to further their education. LCISD seniors are encouraged to apply for the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship. The Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship is open to all Lubbock-Cooper seniors (Lubbock-Cooper High School and New Hope Academy), and the deadline to apply is Wednesday, February 16, 2022. During the application process, seniors will also have the opportunity to be considered for three memorial scholarships: the Hannah Grace Venable Memorial Scholarship, the Craig Staudt Memorial Scholarship, and the Joe Dale Gillispie Memorial Scholarship. These memorial scholarships will be offered based on the following criteria: Hannah Grace Venable Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is open to students planning to pursue a career oriented toward assisting children with special needs. Craig Staudt Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is open to students planning to pursue a career in education or technology. Joe Dale Gillispie Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is open to students planning to pursue a career in agriculture, landscaping, or as a first responder. In addition to completing an application, seniors will need to upload a resume of accomplishments into the form, or email it to lcefapplications@gmail.com. Two letters of recommendation must also be emailed to lcefapplications@gmail.com by individuals advocating for the student. This is a great opportunity for hard working Pirate students to get a head start on funding for college or trade/technical school!
